From rival estates to one football team
A peace club tournament brought together young people from two estates that had not played each other in years.
Programme: Youth & school peace clubs

For years, young people from two neighbouring estates avoided each other. Tension flared at every election, and a single argument could turn into a running feud.
This year the youth peace clubs on both sides organised a tournament with one rule: every team had to include players from both estates.
More than a match
Between games, club members ran short drama sketches about rumours and how they spread. Parents who came to watch stayed for the discussion afterwards.
- 8 mixed teams took part
- 140 young people played or volunteered
- Two new peace clubs have since formed
